“Alliance Finance Company PLC (AFC) has
proudly entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the District
Secretariat – Matale and a consortium of
partners to safeguard the World Heritage
Knuckles Conservation Forest.
Through this collaboration, AFC and its
partners aim to ensure the long-term
protection and preservation of this
globally recognised biodiversity
hotspot. The initiative seeks to strike
a balance between conservation and
community empowerment, while reinforcing
Sri Lanka’s commitment to its national
sustainability agenda.
Through this collaboration, we aim to:
- Conserve biodiversity and protect fragile ecosystems
- Enforce a “Leave No Trace” policy
- Develop eco-friendly infrastructure
- Empower local communities with sustainable opportunities
The MoU was officially signed by Saman
Medagoda (AGM/Regional Head, AFC) and
Prasanna Madanayake (District
Secretary/Government Agent – Matale),
with the presence of all partner
organizations dedicated to this mission.
