We successfully conducted three
training sessions organized by USAID on
Training of Credit Officers on Climate
Change Adaptation,Impacts and
Agricultural Lending across three
locations:
Jaffna-21.01.2025,
Dambulla-22.01.2025 and
Kurunegala-23.01.2025.
The sessions were led by
expert speakers from the USAID team
including:
– Mr. Chopadithya
Edirisinghe
– Mr. Sampath
Abeyrathne, who provided valuable
insights into climate change,
climate vulnerability and climate
adaptation.
– Mr. Kapila
Wickramasinghe, who discussed the
impacts of climate change on the
dairy sector.
– Mr. Eranda
Fernando, who presented on climate
finance and the integrating
adaptation of climate-resilient
measures into credit appraisal.
– Dr. Ajantha, who
addressed climate change impacts on
cash crop cultivation, irrigation
and agricultural lending
particularly as they relate to
specific geographical areas.
The sessions were highly
impactful, focusing on equipping credit
officers with the knowledge to assess
climate change impacts and adaptation
strategies in the context of
agricultural lending and were highly
appreciated by all attendees.
