Marking a significant
contribution to environmental
conservation and ecosystem
restoration, Alliance Finance Co
PLC (AFC) and the Federation of
Environmental Organizations
(FEO) signed a memorandum of
understanding (MOU) on 21st
August 2024. This collaborative
effort is a significant step
towards enhancing the vitality
of our national park, which
caused an extensive loss of
habitat by invasive alien
species(IAS).
In recognition of the
importance of preserving the
ecosystem at Galge National
Park, the AFC has committed to
conserving 15 hectares (37.5
acres) by removing and
preventing the regrowth of
invasive alien species (IAS) at
the site. The project involves
removing rapidly growing IAS
that is significantly impacting
elephants and other herbivores,
and preserving grazing land
while supporting the livelihoods
of those who depend on FEO’s
employment by hiring them for
the removal of IAS.
